John Alden’s schooner designs were influential in generating interest in offshore sailing; their strength and short ended hulls offering security and an easy motion. His yachts nonetheless exhibited the same refined good looks and graceful proportions combined with the sea keeping qualities so admired in his schooner designs. IRONDEQUOIT II is a powerful, easily driven yacht and fast passage maker. She has flush decks forward and a small house aft, with a comfortable cockpit well aft. In recent years she has done well in the Antigua Classic Yacht Regatta, Regates Royales in Cannes, Les Voiles de St Tropez, Vele d'Epoca di Imperia, and Porto Rotondo. In her current ownership she has once again proven herself as a superb family cruiser – gifted as she is with Alden combination of graceful good looks, easy handling and good sea keeping.
